CEA

Polymer Synthesis & Processing Lab. (Laboratoire Synthèse & Transformation des Polymères)

CEA (Commissariat à l’énergie atomique et aux energies alternatives) is a French government-funded technological research organisation.

CEA has developed extensive expertise in a number of fields – defense, information technologies and life science, energy in particular – which are now central to the subjects studied within the European Research community and the European Energy Research Alliance (EERA). The CEA implements an extremely proactive policy on working with its European partners, which is manifested in its highly-committed involvement in a series of research and development framework programmes (FP). The CEA maintains a cross-disciplinary culture of engineers and researchers, building on the synergies between fundamental and technological research.

CEA is composed of 10 research centers in France. The main research center involved in the proposal is located near Tours (37, Le Ripault) and its specific activities deal with high performance and energetic materials. The work will mainly be carried out in the Polymer Synthesis and Processing Lab (Materials Dept.) which is specialized in polymer and composite chemistry and processing. This laboratory was involved in numerous collaborative research projects at both European and National level. The lab stands a leading position in the development of innovative reactive materials and processes in the field of new technologies for energy and particularly for compressed gaseous hydrogen storage in full composite vessels. Since 1998 the lab at CEA has gathered extensive knowledge on materials and processes for liner manufacturing, composite design, manufacturing and health monitoring, full composite tank highly instrumented testing.
